The Missing Piece: An Original Easter Play for Your Church

It's interesting what you find when you clean out your file cabinet. In my case, I recently came across a script that I had forgotten about. Entitled The Missing Piece, I had written it for a friend who pastored a church in upstate New York at the time. He told me that his fine arts team was looking for something fresh and exciting to do for the Easter season and thought I could help. I got to work, wrote a first draft and did one revision before it debuted in the spring of 2001.
"Four performances and many people touched," the pastor wrote me in an email after the play.
The Missing Piece starts as a testimony by a woman who comes out of the pew, accompanied by her husband. She talks of how busy she was with family and volunteer work, but still had a missing piece in her life that she couldn't identify. As she talks, her testimony blends into a play.
Eventually the woman accepts an invitation to watch a passion play at her friend's church. Deeply moved, she commits her life to Christ and finds the missing piece. In the play is an actual jigsaw puzzle that the main character is working on at home, and she happens to find a missing piece to the puzzle soon after her life-changing experience.
The play features 16 characters, including a few people who lend only offstage voices. Two children are in the cast, as well as a few actors who portray biblical characters, including Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Roman soldiers.
I am making this script available for only $15, which includes the rights to make as many copies as you need. The money will support the ministry of One Man Show.
If you would like to read a one-page sample of the script, call 817-454-1129 or send an email to info@onemanshow.org. You can also order via phone or email.
