It was tough leaving a warm bed for a cold, soggy day yesterday--but duty called.Joy answered!
It was my 2011 debut of Simeon's Dream at First United Methodist Church in Alvarado, TX. The devout man of Luke 2 told his story at two worship services, accompanied by the appearance of a local girl as the Virgin Mary, bringing in the Baby Jesus. I penned this script in the year 2000 and, in these 11 years, have taken Simeon's Dream to Oklahoma, Illinois, Alabama, Louisiana and many points in Texas.
Rev. Bryan Patrick and I were a little concerned that crowds would be down because of the damp weather, but folks showed up in force. "Powerful, moving, got me in the heart" were many of the comments that worshippers told me as they filed out after services.
It was still drizzling when I left the church, but I had sunshine in my heart!
